[3.3.x] Convertors • Re: Problems with Categories Hierarchie To phpBB3 Convertor

I am for sure running XAMPP with PHP 5.5.30 with error_reporting OFF which allows phpBB-3.0.7-pl1 to run as expected. I read somewhere recently that even though the preg_replace /e switch was depreciated around PHP 5.3 that PHP 5.5.30 still will run it. That is why I chose to try it.

I am in the middle of the conversion right now. So far it looks like the process is proceeding as designed. So phpBB-3.0.7-pl1 on xampp-linux-x64-5.5.30-7 is working with error reporting suppressed. The convertor is working smoothly

I think it will also run on XAMPP-5.6 with error reporting suppressed. My next step will be to dump the database and import it for a phpBB-3.0.7-pl1 set up on XAMPP-7.2.3 where I will update to 3.0.14 and then go for upgrade to phpBB-3.3+

Earlier advice was to go through the versions in increments. So I tend to stick to that since I was able to do it once already this way. But after doing this unsuccessfully a quite a few times I found I might be able to update in wider version steps and go quicker to PHP8+ and phpBB-3.3.14
It seems very clear to me that the phpBB2 board of the OP is modified by the Categories Hierarchy mod (because of sub-forums. https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... hierarchy/

Moreover it uses the Attachment Mod, heavily modified by the Author (Pierre / Ptirhiik)
The converter takes care also of attachments if present, is located here:
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/conv ... convertor/
It needs to be run against a phpBB 3.0.7-pl1 virgin install, once done can be upgraded to phpBB 3.3.x using the normal procedures. 3.0.7-pl1 to 3.0.14 to 3.3.x (the STK should be used at the 3.0.14 stage).
I have on hand XAMPP with 5.2 and 5.3 standing by just in case.

Can I run phpBB-3.0.14 on PHP5.5.30?
That's not possible because php5.5 wasn't released until three years later.
I was saying I have trouble running the convertor on PHP7+ or PHP8+
