[3.3.x] Support Forum • Notifications cannot be removed

As an former moderator thinking about again helping our nonprofit's moderators, after about a hiatus of about a year, I find my account now has 80 notifications which I cannot remove. Going to the UCP "Manage notifications" "See All" page, and clicking 'Mark all notifications read' sends me to an "INFORMATION" page which says "All notifications have been marked read." - but nothing is changed, the notifications are still shown. Also on the UCP "Manage notifications" page, trying to click on "MARK READ" checkbox by each notification fails, no check mark appears. Javascript is enabled, adblocker disabled.

All these notifications appear to be the "Activation required" message sent out because "User requiring activation" was checked on the UCP "Board Preferences" "Edit notifications option".

FYI all of the problem notifications (did not check all 80!) appear to be from "inactive" users - I suspect from bots which never actually became users.

I have now unchecked that checkbox and hopefully will get no such future notifications. But would dearly like to no longer have the existing 80 notifications be shown to me ad infinitum. Is there a solution?

From other posts, I had gathered there might be a "Delete notifications after X days" option, but cannot find
such in UCP, MCP, or ACP.

Using phpbb 3.3.7
