Difference between phpBB and other social medias is that phpBB is about community. Everyone participates to common goal.
Other media like facebooks, Xs, tick'n tocks, etc are not about community, but individual persons themselves yelling "LOOK AT ME AND HOW GOOD I AM"![:lol:]( "Laughing")
These are two different philosophies and have different solutions. Todays world is not about community. Is about individuality. (sadly![:(]( "Sad")

I agree that phpBB is a bit dinosaur with all this BBCode nonsense. phpBB was a step forward from early computing and BBS's when average computer users had to understand programming principles at least some minimal amount.
AFAIK, SEO has always seen as not necessary here. Google will index you even if you don't SEO. Pretty URLs are for users..![:lol:]( "Laughing")
