Finally got around to getting off a rather outdated 3.2 version and onto the latest 3.3.15. Only to realize somewhere back in 3.2.x they implemented a security fix that prevented the ImageMagick Thumbnailer extension from working anymore, which is what I used to use to fix the sideways image from mobile devices issue.
I came across this code fix: https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/pull/6131
But I implemented these changes and it had no effect on the issue for me.
Is there any real good fix for this issue? Kind of blows my mind I can find reports of this problem going back for over 10 years, yet it's still not fixed in just the base phpBB code (and before someone responds "Well it's a phone problem" ... no, not at this point it's not. When literally any other website on the entire internet can interpret a portrait image from a mobile device probably and phpBB is the only platform out there in existence that still can't do it, I'd call it a phpBB problem![;)]( "Wink")
