[3.3.x] Support Forum • What is good 'default' way to set up first forums?

i find the 'creating and setting up forums' confusing

mainly it does not make it clear to me what to do about permissions.

on the one hand it says 'the default settings are usually good enough..' but on the other it warns:
'if you do not set any permissions on this forum it will not be accessible'

But one does not at this stage know what permissions to set etc.

So what would be the safe quick default rule?

The thing opens with one forum already existing I think, doesn't it?

So make future forums as 'children' of it and have them inherit permissions from it?

Or what?
